Family Birthplace Construction Update: Phase One Complete

The first of four phases is now complete in the renovation and expansion of The Family Birthplace.

The new, dedicated entrance for Family Birthplace patients and visitors is now open and available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Referred to as the South Entrance, this entry point to the hospital will also allow for after-hours access for visitors rather than utilizing the Emergency Department.

To access The Family Birthplace, visitors and patients will enter what is now called the hospital’s South Entrance. The entrance will be staffed with security personnel 24/7, and any visitor or support person entering the hospital after visiting hours will need to enter through the new entrance. Visitors to The Family Birthplace also will be required to show photo identification in order to enter the maternity unit.

Construction has started on the second phase of the project, which includes operating room suites, supply rooms and nursing stations.

The $13.5 million expansion project to implement the Neonatal Family Centered Couplet Care program at Carroll Hospital will add 9,000 square feet to The Family Birthplace and is expected to be completed in August 2019. Learn more about the project.
