Looking for a rewarding way to utilize your time and talents? Become a volunteer at Carroll Hospital!
Volunteers offer support in multiple buildings on and off campus, including five unique retail locations and in nearly 30 hospital departments. Collectively, Carroll Hospital has more than 300 volunteers who served more than 62,000 hours in 2019.
“Volunteering is a beneficial way to support the hospital as well as expand one’s personal accomplishments and activities,” says Mary Richards, director of volunteer services. “It’s a great way to meet new people while helping the community.”
Motivated, enthusiastic individuals are encouraged to join the volunteer team at the Carroll Hospital Auxiliary’s retail shops in Westminster.
The shops include The Candy Striper Gift Shop, located in the hospital’s main lobby; The Wellness Boutique, located in the hospital’s East Pavilion, The Candy Striper Junior, located in the Fisher Medical Building; The Beasman Boutique at ACTS Fairhaven Community in Sykesville; and at the new location of The White Rabbit Thrift Boutique, 555 S. Center Street, Westminster.
Volunteers can discover a network of friends while assisting customers shopping for unique merchandise, giftware, wellness and therapy items and much more. Proceeds from the Auxiliary’s retail stores support the vital programs and services at Carroll Hospital. Previous retail experience is helpful but not required. Training will be provided.
The hospital is also in need of Pet Therapy volunteers. In this program, hospital volunteers and their specially trained pets visit patients, families and employees at the hospital to provide another aspect of comfort and support. Various shifts are available, and specialized training for the volunteer pet is required.
