In order to help our employees decompress during their shifts, Carroll Hospital recently opened an Associate support room called “Breathing Space.”
The room, open to all staff 24 hours a day, includes three massage chairs, a sofa, aromatherapy lamp, soft lighting and relaxing sounds. It is designed to promote wellness in the workplace.
“Breathing Space is a place for recovery. If Associates are having a bad day, they can go there to relax and collect themselves for a few moments,” said Stephanie Reid, vice president of patient care services and chief nursing officer.
Associates attending an open house for the space liked the idea of the room. “This is perfect,” said medical transcriptionist Rebecca Price. “I can just imagine coming here for a few minutes to regroup and reset myself. The mood is very calming.”
