You are invited to participate in a month-long, multifaceted celebration of breast cancer survival, screenings and early detection. The Center for Breast Health at Carroll Hospital, along with presenting sponsor Advanced Radiology, kicked off the festivities on October 1.
“We cannot gather together for the Pink Fling luncheon as we have in the past, so we are taking our energy out into the community,” says Dona Hobart, M.D., medical director of LifeBridge Health’s breast care centers and grand master of ceremonies. “Providing early detection education and celebrating the community of survivors is our focus. We want to remind the community that early detection saves lives.”
Pink Fling, previously an afternoon luncheon, is now 31 days of spreading hope, encouragement and awareness. An active committee of volunteers, chaired by Elizabeth Andes-Brown of sponsor Orrstown Bank, introduces “Paint Carroll Pink” with events that include storefront embellishments designed by artist Lisa Walters of CreativLEI; pink “fairy dusting” care packages for survivors; a mobile silent auction; special promotions throughout the month from participating merchants and more.
“The community has really embraced this concept,” says Andes-Brown. “Almost everyone I have spoken to is either a survivor themselves or knows someone touched by breast cancer. This is our opportunity to do something to make a difference.”
Help us Paint Carroll Pink to inspire hope, encouragement and create awareness of breast cancer in Carroll County. Proceeds benefit the Center for Breast Health at Carroll Hospital.
