April is Parkinson’s Disease Awareness Month
According to a 2022 Parkinson’s Foundation-backed study, nearly 1 million people are diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease every year in the United States. And, by 2030, it is estimated that 1.2 million people in the United States will be living with Parkinson’s. This is a much greater growth rate than previously estimated.

Of course, the kitchen staples of yellow, white and red onions are available year-round, but now is the best time to enjoy the variety of mild and sweet spring onions, including scallions, wild ramps, garlic grass, scapes, chives and more. You may see some of these at the local farmers market. Because onions are such a common ingredient, it’s easy to overlook their nutritional benefits.
