Bid on Vibrant Pop Art and Support Our Hospital

Love pop art and supporting your community hospital? Bid on four pieces from artist Steve Kaufman, former assistant to Andy Warhol, during the Carroll Hospital Auxiliary Ball’s online auction.

Nicknamed the “Prince of Pop Art,” Kaufman’s artwork hangs in the White House, Smithsonian and in more than 600 fine art galleries across the United States, Asia, Japan and Europe.

Four pieces of art will be up for bids during the auction*:

  • Tyson vs. Ali (15 x 15 inches)
  • Lincoln Portrait (14 x 18 inches)
  • George Washington (15 x 24 inches)
  • Einstein State I – Purple (36 x 36 inches)

Foundation board of trustee member Stephen Guthrie and his wife Barbara are the conduit for getting the artwork donated to the Carroll Hospital Foundation. He and his wife Barbara became fans of Kaufman’s work after seeing Kaufman’s art at a neighbor’s home a few years ago. When the Guthries inquired about purchasing Kaufman’s works, their neighbor explained that Kaufman had passed away and wasn’t sure if there were pieces available for purchase.

Recently, pieces of Kaufman’s artwork were found in a Las Vegas warehouse, and the curator was interested in donating some of the pieces to charity. In turn, seven pieces of art were donated to the Carroll Hospital Foundation, facilitated by Guthrie, and four of those pieces will be featured in the Ball’s auction benefiting the new Kahlert Foundation Simulation Center at Carroll Hospital.

The Guthries generously donated the framing of the pieces. “We are proud to share this work with the hospital and hope that those who receive it will be as happy as we are with the purchase,” shares Guthrie.
