Keeping Your Mind & Body Active at Home

As many are staying home, it can be easy to feel helpless and anxious about the current circumstances surrounding the Coronavirus. However, it is important to continue to find ways to stimulate the mind, reduce stress through activity and nourish the body.

Did you know gardening has been shown to help with mental and physical health? Spring is the perfect time to start that garden you have always wanted! What a perfect way to get outside in the fresh air, absorb some Vitamin D from the sun and be active!

A garden can be started anywhere: outside on a small plot of land, containers on a porch or pots on a windowsill. Starting from seed is relatively inexpensive, as all you need is dirt, water and sun. Supplies and seeds can be easily bought online. Try starting with some dark leafy greens or herbs; they are easy to grow and nutritious.

Exercising and stretching at home is another way to stay active. There are so many resources online or through an app on your phone for all ages and abilities. Exercises are not only good for your body, but also for your mental health. Check out this website for more resources for exercising at home.

Ever wanted to go to the Louvre, explore the surface of Mars or walk through the rainforest? Well, now is your time to discover! Many free educational and fun virtual tours are available online for you and your family

Remember to continue to choose whole foods when possible to nourish your body and continue to maintain a healthy immune system. Practice portion control and eating well-balanced meals to maintain your weight.
